Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Majha zone in charge Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal on Monday condemned Chief Minister Amarinder Singh for stating that opening of the Kartarpur corridor as a “bigger conspiracy” hatched by the Pakistan Army.

He said at a press meet here on Monday, “It seems that Captain is acting as a spokesperson of the BJP. The claim should have rightly been made by Prime Minister or External Affairs Minister. Now, as the CM has made a public statement, he would also give evidence to prove it.”

Dhaliwal said infighting in the Congress, especially between Amarinder Singh and Local Bodies Minister, seems to be the reason behind former’s ill founded claim.

Dhaliwal also demanded that Congress president Rahul Gandhi should also clear that if he stands by what Captain has claimed or is he with Sidhu. “Rahul Gandhi should have cleared what is his party’s stand on the Kartarpur issue as both the leaders are poles apart on the matter,” said Dhaliwal.

The Majha leader, who has been nominated as AAP candidate from Amritsar for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, alleged that the said statement is aimed that instilling fears among common residents and thwart the dialogue process and final implementation of the corridor plan.

“If the CM is claiming so just to counter Sidhu as he has managed to take credit, it amounts to misleading people. The matter is serious and if he has any iota of evidence he should bring it in public domain,” he stated.
