Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) today launched a student–friendly web portal — http://web.gndu.ac.in.

The portal has been launched to introduce a paperless system in all affiliated colleges of the GNDU. The portal will remain operational from the beginning of admission process till the announcement of results.

Officiating Vice-Chancellor SK Sandhu inaugurated the portal in the presence of Prof Subodh Kumar (dean) academic affairs; Prof KS Kahlon, registrar; Prof Hardip Singh, in-charge, examinations; Prof Narpinder Singh, director research and other officials of the university.

Talking about the portal, Prof KS Kahlon said, “Students can get necessary information about all government colleges that are affiliated to the university. The students can check the faculty, infrastructure and courses being provided at various colleges. It will benefit students who are from far areas. They will get everything on the portal. A login id has been shared with all colleges and these have been asked to fill all details.”

Under the new system, applications will be submitted online. The documents to be verified online that will save students’ time. There will be no need to visit colleges to verify the documents. The university has already got the data base of results from the Punjab School Education Board of the past five years and the Central Board of Secondary Education and ICSE for the current year.

Students just need to enter their roll numbers and the software will automatically fetch their personal details like name, father’s name etc from the database. The software will also display their detailed marks which will eliminate the need for physical verification of documents. The portal will automatically determine the eligibility of the students. In future, the introduction of the paperless system will also accelerate the issuance of university registration numbers and roll no for the students.
