Amritsar, August 13

The Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) has signed an agreement with the National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) for establishing the National Academic Depository (NAD) cell.

Expressing pleasure over the agreement, Vice-Chancellor Jaspal Singh Sandhu said, “The syndicate in its last meeting passed the resolution to have an agreement with the NSDL. Creating and maintaining a digital depository for the academic certificates is an important task that comes with a lot of responsibility.”

Under the dynamic leadership of Prof Sandhu, the university is committed to implement NAD, which would provide benefit to educational institutions, students and employers by enabling online access of academic awards, said Bedi. It will eliminate the need to approach educational institutions for obtaining transcripts of such awards or mark sheets for verification, he added.

Registrar Kahlon further apprised that it would also eliminate fraudulent practices such as forging of certificates and marksheets, thereby reducing/eliminating reputational risk to academic institutions. — TNS
