Jaswinder Kaur, a resident of Satkartar Nagar, Chheharta, has submitted a complaint to Police Commissioner SS Srivastava over “misbehaviour” of GNDU security officer Sukhdev Singh and other guards with her children.

In her written complaint, Jaswinder Kaur, wife of Harpreet Singh, PA to SSP (Rural) Vikramjeet Duggal, alleged that the security officer and his team misbehaved and mentally harassed her daughter Jashanpreet Kaur, son Gurmuskan Singh and her nephew, terming them outsiders using the university children park for playing on Thursday evening.

Jashanpreet Kaur is an archer, who has been practising on the university campus for quite some time. She holds an entry pass and her younger brother Gurmuskan Singh often accompanies her sister to play with his schoolfriends residing on the campus.

Jaswinder Kaur said, “My daughter didn’t go for her practice, but my son went to play with his friends in the university. I had sent my daughter and nephew to bring him back home, but I was taken aback when I received a phone call from my daughter regarding misbehaviour by Sukhdev Singh and other security personnel.”

“He used derogatory language and asked my children to get lost from the university as they were not campus residents. He did not allow my children to leave from the main gate and instead forced them to go through a secluded and abandoned way to exit. He also asked his men to ensure my kids do not take the main gateway. It was late evening. The children were scared to go via secluded place and they begged them for cooperation,” she said.

She also alleged as her children refused to follow the instructions, so they were mistreated.

“My children were crying. He (Sukhdev Singh) also used abusive language with me and my children as I reached the university. It is not a crime to visit the university,” she added.

Meanwhile, security officer Sukhdev Singh refuted the allegations. He said, “As per the rule, no outsider is allowed in the university, especially in the children park as it is a private park. We did not harass the children. No one misbehaved with them. The way was suggested to help them to reach home as soon as possible. This entire story has been cooked up by their parents.”

Police officials confirmed about receiving the complaint. They said it had been marked to ACP (West) Dev Dutt.
