Gurmat events in countries Guru Nanak Dev visited

AMRITSAR: Newly elected DSGMC president Manjinder Singh Sirsa has announced that the religious body, as a part of 550th birth anniversary celebration of Guru Nanak Dev, will hold ‘gurmat’ programmes in the countries which were visited by the founder of Sikhism during his ‘udasis’ (religious tours).

Newly elected DSGMC president Manjinder Singh Sirsa has announced that the religious body, as a part of 550th birth anniversary celebration of Guru Nanak Dev, will hold ‘gurmat’ programmes in the countries which were visited by the founder of Sikhism during his ‘udasis’ (religious tours).

He visited the Golden Temple for the first time after becoming the DSGMC head. He said ambassadors of those countries would be approached to make them aware of Guru Nanak’s philosophy. He said that the DSGMC, in association with the SGPC, would disseminate the philosophy of Guru Nanak Dev during his 550 birth anniversary this year across the world.

He announced that children of granthis of gurdwaras, being run under Delhi’s Singh Sabhas, Sewadars, Kirtani Singhs, will be offered studies free of cost at the DSGMC schools.

Later, SGPC officials felicitated Sirsa with a siropa (robe of honour) at the Golden Temple’s information office.
