Harbhajan Singh seeks Amritsar airport expansion, more direct overseas flights
Harbhajan Singh requests the Civil Aviation Ministry to consider starting a direct flight between Adampur Airport in Jalandhar and Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi to strengthen regional connectivity
Rajya Sabha MP and former international cricketer Harbhajan Singh met Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjrapu Ram Mohan Naidu on Thursday and raised key issues related to the development of airports in Punjab, with a strong push for the expansion of Amritsar airport.
During the meeting, Harbhajan Singh urged the Centre to expand Shri Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport in Amritsar, and said that the number of direct flights to countries such as Canada, the United States and Australia should be increased.
He said the demand for international connectivity from Punjab remained high and needed to be addressed through enhanced air links.
Highlighting the steady rise in passenger traffic at the Amritsar airport, the AAP Rajya Sabha MP also called for the construction of a new, modern terminal building equipped with world-class facilities to meet international standards and improve passenger experience.

Harbhajan Singh also requested the Civil Aviation Ministry to consider starting a direct flight between Adampur Airport in Jalandhar and Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in New Delhi to strengthen regional connectivity.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Kinjrapu Ram Mohan Naidu assured him that all the demands would be examined positively.
