Taking note of the recent firing in the Bhiwani court complex, a judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Justice Sandeep Moudgil, has directed the police and local administration to tighten security arrangements in the judicial complex and the mini secretariat complex.
The assailants tried to target an undertrial who was produced for a hearing.
Justice Moudgil, who is the inspecting judge for Bhiwani, visited the judicial complex today and reviewed the security arrangements. He also held a meeting with the advocates at the District Bar Association (DBA) and officials of the police and civil administration.
He said people come to courts for justice and to the mini secretariat for important government work, and they should feel safe while visiting these places. Security arrangements should be foolproof within at least a 100-metre radius of the judicial complex and mini secretariat, he stated.
Bhiwani was known as “Chhoti Kashi” and famous for its sports stars as international-level sports medallists hailed from here, the judge said. “The pattern and nature of crime have changed. Therefore security arrangements should be upgraded using the latest technology,” he said.
SP Sumit Kumar briefed the judge about buildings and security arrangements of the judicial complex and the mini-secretariat.
The Bhiwani police arrested eight assailants after an encounter that followed the firing at the court complex on Tuesday.
