Help make school smart, get honoured

AMRITSAR: District education officers will now honour school heads, members of civil society, panch (village panchayat) members and others responsible for the conversion of government schools into smart ones.

District education officers will now honour school heads, members of civil society, panch (village panchayat) members and others responsible for the conversion of government schools into smart ones.

The state Education Department has asked the district officials to locate government schools in blocks to be developed into Self Made Smart School Government Schools. The district level authorities will hold meetings of schools heads, members of panchayat and members of civil society to discuss the steps for the potential schools.

The kids studying in government schools will be provided with tie, belt, identity card besides ensuring projectors and LEDs, etc., for schools. Colour coding, availability of potable water facility, toilets, science parks and maths parks will also be there. The department is already running an enrollment drive to draw people for getting their kids admitted to government schools.

Meetings are to be held to discuss the benefits of the government schools, such as English medium education, e-content, Padho Punjab, Padhao Punjab and usage of panchyati funds for the development of schools.

DEO Salwinder Singh Samra said, “We will honour people behind making our school smarts. The guidelines of the Education Department will be followed. People are coming forward for the cause. We are going to introduce tie-belt for students soon.”
