Amritsar, February 19

On the call of Gau Raksha Manch, leaders of the BJP and Hindu organisations staged a protest against the killing of cows at Kachari Chowk here on Tuesday. The protest march was organised from Circuit House to the office of Deputy Commissioner. The protesters submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner and demanded arrest of the accused persons.

Anil Joshi, former minister and BJP leader, said it was a conspiracy to disturb peace in the country. The administration should take strict action against the accused so that in future no one dares to do this. He also criticised the Municipal Corporation for not taking care of cows. The Municipal Corporation has collected crores as cow cess but did not make any effort for the welfare of cows.

The leaders demanded cow sheds and gaushalas in the city for the proper care of the animals.
