Under the initiative, 26 free joint replacement surgeries will be performed over the course of the year for patients from the economically weaker sections of society and deserving patients from across Punjab. The campaign is being led by Dr Avtar Singh, Chairman and Chief Orthopaedic Surgeon, Amandeep Hospital.

Joint replacement surgery is often life changing but remains financially out of reach for many patients, particularly the elderly and those from a disadvantaged background, said Dr Singh, during an event here today. He said that the Joint Freedom Drive seeks to bridge this gap by providing world-class surgical care, advanced implants and comprehensive post-operative rehabilitation at no cost to the beneficiaries.

Patients will be identified in collaboration with NGOs, gurdwaras, local community organisations and district health authorities. A transparent screening process based on medical necessity

and socio-economic criteria will be followed to ensure that support reaches those most in need, stated the hospital.
