In Amritsar, BJP celebrates appointment of Kewal Singh Dhillon as Punjab president

The appointment of senior BJP leader and Punjab BJP vice-president Kewal Singh Dhillon as the new state president has sparked positive reactions among party members in Amritsar. Local units celebrated the announcement by distributing sweets.District president Harvinder Singh Sandhu remarked that the BJP would chart a new course in Punjab following the change in leadership. “Kewal Singh Dhillon is a grassroots and powerful leader. His organisational experience and leadership abilities will greatly benefit the Punjab BJP. His appointment will inject new energy and strength into the party at the grassroots level,” Sandhu said.

Several leaders, including Dr Ram Chawla, Sukhminder Singh Pintu, Kumar Amit and others, also welcomed the development. BJP youth leader Akshay Sharma, from the North constituency, noted that entrusting the responsibility of state president to a strong Sikh face would give the party a new direction and identity. “Punjab is a religiously and culturally sensitive state where the Sikh community plays a vital role. In such a scenario, appointing Kewal Singh Dhillon reflects the BJP’s inclusive approach. This decision will send a positive message to the Sikh community and strengthen the party at the grassroots level,” he said.

Meanwhile, BJP Punjab spokesperson Prof Sarchand Singh Khiala praised the tireless efforts of former state president Sunil Jakhar and working president Ashwani Sharma. He acknowledged their contributions in strengthening the party’s base across villages and cities, maintaining worker morale even in challenging political circumstances.
