Amritsar: Women Empowerment-cum-Grievance Redressal Cell of DAV College, Amritsar, organised an event to mark the International Girl Child Day on Tuesday. Dr Anupreet Kaur, Mrs. India 2020- 2021, MD pathology and general manager, Amandeep Group of Hospitals was the chief guest as Prof Meenu Aggarwal, convenor of the Women Empowerment Cell of the college introduced the theme of the day i.e. ‘Girl Safety and Self Defence’. She encouraged girls to opt for self-defence and the society to move against the discrimination, harassment, and crime against women. Principal Dr Rajesh Kumar hailed the spirit of womanhood. He established that time is now to wake up and call to create conducive environment for the fair gender. The programme was marked by the presence of all the students, staff and members of Women Empowerment Cell and the office- bearers of the institution.
Dr Manjinder joins as principal
Associate Prof of the School of Punjabi Studies, Guru Nanak Dev University, Dr Manjinder Singh assumed office as principal of School of Punjabi Studies. On his first day as principal, Dr Singh said he would remain dedicated to the development of the Punjabi language, literature and culture and would work for the betterment of the department. Dr Manjinder Singh started his teaching journey in 2008 from Guru Angad Dev College, Khadur Sahib (Tarn Taran) and has been working continuously since 2014 as an assistant professor at the School of Punjabi Studies, Guru Nanak Dev University. His area of specialisation is linguistics and Gurbani. He has published three books so far and more than 40 of his research papers in national and international research journals.
