Amritsar, January 19
Three jail inmates allegedly scuffled with a jail warden when he tried to take their mobile phones which they had been using secretly at the high security jail.
The police have registered a case under Sections 186, 201, 506 of the IPC and Section 52 of the Prisons Act against Roshan Singh of Meharbanpura village, Jaswant Malhotra of Harike and Satnam Singh of Hawellian in Tarn Taran. Gian Singh, Assistant Superintendent, Central Jail, said Roshan Singh was using a mobile phone while Satnam Singh was standing next to him.
On seeing jail warden Narinder Kumar approaching them, Satnam alerted Roshan following which he hid cell phone in his pant. He said that when Narinder tried to take the mobile phone from Roshan Singh, Jaswant Malhotra also turned up and they had a scuffle with him. — TNS
