Khalsa College Governing Council secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina said the new school, besides getting its affiliation with the CBSE, will function as per rules and regulations of the Sainik Schools Society, New Delhi. He was elated that their school had been granted the prestigious status following rigorous inspections and visits by experts from Delhi during the last one year. He said the objective of granting Sainik School status to the schools is to provide quality education to students in line with the National Education Policy and give better career opportunities to youth in the defence forces. “The whole of Punjab will be benefitted as students, who clear the central level test, will be admitted in the Sainik School on merit,” said Chhina.

He said in addition to their regular affiliated board curriculum, students will get physical training, special leadership classes on the patterns of Sainik School to serve the nation. KCPS Principal Amarjit Singh Gill said the school will be working as a model of the existing Sainik Schools and will inculcate ethos of national spirit, indomitable courage, unfailing commitment and the importance of physical fitness in students.

The school, which will now be known as Khalsa College Sainik Public School (KCSPS), will be governed as per the norms of the Sainik Schools Society under the Union Defence Ministry. The main focus of the school will be to create a system that combines academic rigor with a degree of discipline to provide increased focus on value-based education.
