Amritsar: Khalsa College team punch way to boxing victory for record 15th year
With 10 golds in kitty, institute stands out in Guru Nanak Dev University Inter-College Boxing Competition this year too
The Khalsa College Boxing Centre has won the Guru Nanak Dev University Inter-College Boxing Competition for a record 15th year.
The contest was held recently at Khalsa College Senior Secondary School.
Rajbir Sharma won the gold medal in 50-kg category, while Avtar Singh won the silver in the 55-kg event.
Bhupinder Singh won the gold medal in 60-kg event, while Yuvraj Abhay Pratap Singh Jaiswal clinched the bronze medal in the 65-kg category.
Navroop Singh won the gold medal in 70-kg category, Harsit Singh in the 75-kg category, and Sukhbir Singh the 80-kg event.
Adding to the college’s medal kitty, Sehajpreet Singh won the gold in the 85-kg category, Rajandeep Singh in the 90-kg event, and Rajanpreet Singh in the 90+-kg event.
Amarjit Sharma (55-kg) and Inderjit Singh (65-kg) also brought home golds — with the total coming out to a record 10 gold medals.
In the 2011 and 2012 championships, too, the college’s players showed exceptional skills,
winning 11 golds in 11 weight categories.
Khalsa College Governing Council honorary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina, Principal Atam Singh Randhawa and Sports Head Daljit Singh have congratulated the boxing team.
