Amritsar: Bhavreet Kaur (XII Science) of DAV Public School, Lawrence Road, has earned accolades for the school by winning the KVPY scholarship. Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana is a scholarship programme funded by the Department of Science and Technology, of the Government of India and is aimed at encouraging students to take up research careers in the field of basic science. It is conducted by Indian Institute of Science. Bhavreet is now eligible for monthly fellowship for all further studies as well as admission into premier institutes like IISC and IISER etc. Dr Resham Sharma, Teacher In charge, extended warm felicitations to the student for her achievement and applauded the teachers for their guidance and support.

Date extended for posts of Instructor

Online applications are invited for various posts of Instructors for different courses/diplomas in the Department of Lifelong Learning of Guru Nanak Dev University on purely part-time contract/lecture basis for the Session 2022-23. Prof Saroj Bala, Director said the last date for applying for the posts has been extended till July 10. The candidates, who fulfil the prescribed qualifications

can fill the online application form at the website www.gndu.ac.in/lifelongptins/default.aspx before July 10. The applicant can visit the university website www.gndu.ac.in for the interview date, time, venue and qualifications/instructions.

Interactive counselling session held

Spring Dale Senior School came up with an interactive counselling session to assist the prospective students hoping to study and settle abroad. A team of members with expertise in international admissions advised the students regarding eligibility criteria in various courses together with the career opportunities available overseas. In the conducive two-hour session held out on campus locale, pre-college pass outs received skilled guidance in various domains as course and institute selection, college and university guidance, scholarship application. Additionally, the resource persons at the overseas admission desk of the school offered the consultation pertaining to complete college application profile building along with the visa application filing formality.

CKD to restore heritage building

In a financial management meeting held by Chief Khalsa Diwan, the members decided to restore the heritage building of the SGS Khalsa Senior Secondary School at Anandpur Sahib, which is under CKD’s management. Discussions were held to preserve the ancient heritage look and to equip the school with state-of-the-art high-tech facilities. During the meeting, decisions regarding facades of the 14-acre school, modernisation of hockey, football, athlete playgrounds and stadiums, construction of various new blocks, renovation of labs and libraries as well as raising the standard of education of the school were taken.

Logo design contest organised

A logo design contest was organised by the Department of Apparel and Textile Technology (DATT) of Guru Nanak Dev University. Undergraduates and postgraduate students of various universities and colleges across Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana and UP participated in the contest. Prof Sukhprit Singh, Head of the Department, said the main objective of the logo design contest was to motivate the innovative and creative young minds and translate their creative ideas into positive thoughts with imagination into logo design. Dr Sachin Kumar, Assistant Prof, said Karan Singh, student of BCA 4th semester from GNDU College, Phillaur secured the first position. Divyansh Babbar, student of World University of Design, Sonepat, Haryana, secured the second position. Ekta Gupta, postgraduate student of Government Home Science College, Sector-10, Chandigarh, secured the third position. Daljeet Kaur, student of Fashion Design from Guru Angad Dev College, Khadur Sahib, and Ramneek Kaur, student of Fashion Design from RR Bawa DAV Girls College, Batala, got a consolation prize. This logo will be featured on the Department of Apparel and Textile Technology website and other mediums viz. stationary, pamphlets and T-shirts.

Meritorious student honoured

Kirandeep Kaur, a student of Guru Amar Das Senior Secondary School, Goindwal Sahib, who made it to the merit list of PSEB Class 12th result 2021-22 was honoured by the school managing committee and the school authorities in a simple programme held in the school. Kirandeep Kaur, daughter of Kabal Singh, a marginal farmer had registered her place in merit list of PSEB grade 12th result by securing 492 /500 marks and bagged 97th position in state. She wants to become an IAS officer. OC

NCC camp organised

Annual Camp of 11 PB NCC was organised at St Soldier’s Elite School, Jandiala. In this camp, as many as 13 students of DAV College, Amritsar, participated and performed in various competitions including public speaking, physical training, drill competition, and drawing competition. Overall championship trophy was also given to the college cadets for their excellent performance. Principal Dr Rajesh Kumar, congratulated the officers of the college unit, Dr Kamal Kishore and Dr Raghu Raj for this achievement and wished the cadets all the best for their future endeavours. Jashanpreet Singh was adjudged the best cadet and Navleen Kaur was given the first prize in Public Speaking and Mono Acting. More than 350 cadets from across the district participated in this camp.
