The students of host school Shaheed Chainchal Singh Government Senior Secondary Smart School, Lauhka, performed exceptionally well in the block-level karate competition held on Saturday.

Girls’ teams from various government schools of the Naushehra Pannuan block participated in the competition with great enthusiasm. Satnam Singh Bath, District Education Officer (Secondary), was the chief guest on the occasion.

According to Rupinderjit Kaur, Physical Education lecturer at the host school, the students of Government Senior Secondary School, Lauhka, delivered an excellent performance. She informed that Mandeep Kaur, Komalpreet Kaur, Rajbir Kaur and Reet secured first position, while Ramanpreet Kaur and Jaspreet Kaur won second place and Arshpreet Kaur stood third in the competition.

Principal Dimple Agarwal said under the Rani Lakshmi Bai Self-Defence Component, girl students from all government schools of the Naushehra Pannuan block received two months of karate training to prepare them for self-defence and boost their self-confidence.

Pardeep Singh, DPE, emphasised the importance of self-defence training for girls, noting that it instils confidence and a sense of cooperation among students. Karate coaches Monica and Gurpreet Singh served as referees, ensuring the smooth conduct of the competition.

In his address, Jugraj Singh, District Sports Coordinator, urged students to come forward and help spread awareness in society against social evils, including drug abuse. Prizes and cash awards were distributed to the winners.
