AMRITSAR: Dr Harjot Singh of Amandeep Hospital addressed the students of IIM Amritsar on the stress faced by them during MBA and regular life in general.

Dr Harjot Singh of Amandeep Hospital addressed the students of IIM Amritsar on the stress faced by them during MBA and regular life in general. Harjot begins the session by emphasising on the fact that stress is part and parcel of life. It is the denominator of life and everyone has to go through it.

Harjot explained the meaning of stress and iterated the example of MS Dhoni on how “captain cool” managed stress and kept calm even in adverse situations. He explained the challenges in college and college life. The descriptions resonated with the minds of students and many questions were asked regarding the same. Harjot discussed how food and sleep habits, balance between academic and extracurricular activities and roommates affect the stress we experience.

A discussion on Harvard Medical School Survey with two groups on stress response helped the students understand how psychology controls stress. The working and impact of oxytocin (stress hormone) was also brought forth the students. —TNS
