The Punjab State Legal Services Authority (PSLSA) has provided financial assistance to the tune of Rs 20.04 lakh to the legal heirs of 10 victims, who lost their lives in the recent floods in the riverine belt of Ajnala,
Each affected family has received Rs 2 lakh as immediate relief to support welfare and rehabilitation.
The assistance was made possible through voluntary contributions by judicial officers and staff of the Punjab judiciary, reflecting solidarity with the bereaved families.
The funds were channelled through the PSLSA to the District Legal Services Authority here, which oversaw the identification of beneficiaries and the disbursement process.
Beyond financial aid, the district authority played an active humanitarian role during the flood crisis by distributing dry rations, cattle feed, medical kits and other essential relief materials among affected households.
The initiative was carried out under the guidance of Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, and Executive Chairman of the Punjab State Legal Services Authority, along with Justice Rohit Kapoor, Administrative Judge for the Amritsar Sessions Division. Cheque distribution was conducted by Jatinder Kaur, District and Sessions Judge, Amritsar, in the presence of officials from the district authority.
The proactive efforts of Amardeep Singh Bains, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, were acknowledged for ensuring timely outreach and assistance to the affected families.
