The local NGO Citizen Council (CC) in its 28th annual ‘Kannian Dan’ function organised here on Sunday solemnised marriages of 28 couples from poor families, according to the Sikh traditions.

Member of Parliament from Khadoor Sahib Jasbir Singh Dimpa and local MLA Dr Dharmbeer Agnihotri were among others, who blessed the newlywed couples. Avtar Singh Taneja, president of the CC, said the couples were given domestic-useable articles as gifts as a mark of affection.

A number of social organisations and individuals made donations for the cause of mass marriages of people from needy families.
