Even after elapsing of 48 hours, the police are yet to arrest the accused who shot dead gangster-turned-financier and property dealer Balwinder Singh, alias Billa, in Kot Khalsa. The police have reportedly taken several history-sheeters and close associates of the suspects to know their whereabouts.

The police have booked Angrej Singh of Fateh Singh Colony and Rajbir Singh, alias Dholla, besides two unknown persons in the case. A case under Sections 302, 450, 34 of the IPC and 25, 27, 54, 59-A of the Arms Act has been registered against them.

ADCP JS Walia said raids were on at the possible hideouts of the accused. Though monetary dispute is the prime reason behind the murder, it appears that groupism also played a role, he said, adding that further investigation was on.

Former gangster-turned-financier and property dealer Balwinder Billa was critically injured when several armed persons sprinkled bullets after calling him out of the house on Friday evening. He was rushed to a private hospital where he succumbed.

Father of the deceased stated to the police Billa and his brother-in-law’s son Kapil Dev Sharma had partnership in the name of wine and company liquor shops in Rajasansi. On Friday at around 9.15 pm, some persons knocked at the door. When Billa went out, Angrej Singh and Rajbir shot him. The police recovered three empty shells of .32 bore from the spot.
