One killed in firing after tiff over girl's molestation

One person died on Thursday after being shot over the molestation of a girl in Bakipur village of the area. The local Sadar police have named five people as accused. The deceased has been identified as Rana Singh (21), a resident of Sursingh. Harpreet Singh, elder brother of deceased Rana Singh, told the police that the accused include Sajan, Jango, Lakha, Hammo etc. He said that some of the accused brought his brother Rana Singh from Sursingh to Bakipur where a gunshot was fired during an argument over the molestation of a girl. The bullet hit Rana Singh in the chest and he was brought to Civil Hospital, Tarn Taran, in a serious condition where doctors declared him dead.

DSP, Goindwal Sahib, Atul Soni said a case has been registered. All the accused managed to escape from the spot and the police was conducting raids to nab them.
