In another case, the Khalra police team, led by SHO Sub-Inspector Sahib Singh, along with the BSF and the dog squad, recovered a packet from the fields of farmer Ranjit Singh of Wan Tara Singh village. The packet was found to contain 511 grams of heroin.

Cases under Sections 21-C, 61 and 85 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 10, 11 and 12 of the Aircraft Act, 1934, have been registered by the respective police stations.

The police said the dog squad has proved very helpful in recovering narcotics and other contraband. They added that narcotics are frequently dropped in border areas from across Pakistan with the help of drones.
