Prisoner escapes from hospital

Amritsar: A woman prisoner identified as Talwinder Kaur, allegedly escaped from Guru Nanak Dev Hospital (GNDH) here on Friday. She, along with her husband, was arrested by the Goindwal police, Tarn Taran, for snatching. The police have registered a case of dereliction in duty against the cops deputed for keeping an eye on her. Talwinder Kaur and her husband Baljit Singh had allegedly committed a snatching from an elderly in Khawaspur village. They were arrested by the police following investigations. They were currently lodged in Central Jail. She was admitted in the gynaecology ward of the GNDH following some health issue. From there she slipped away after dodging the police guard. The police authorities said efforts were on to arrest her while a case has been registered. TNS

Youth run over by goods train

Tarn Taran: A 20-year-old youth was run over by a running goods train near Jandoke Sarhali village on the Amritsar-Khemkaran rail track here on Thursday night. The body had been recovered by personnel of the Government Railway Police and kept in the mortuary of the Civil Hospital. Sub-Inspector Gurwinder Singh, in-charge of the GRP post, said the clean-shaven victim was wearing black lower. OC
