Anger continuous to simmer among the city residents over the deadly terror attack in Kashmir’s Pulwama that snuffed out the lives of over 40 CRPF personnel three days ago. Since the attack, protests are being witnessed across the city. The protests continued in the city on Sunday as well with a number of organisations and individuals holding demonstrations.

Activists of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) held a protest against Local Bodies Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu outside the Hall Gate. Led by president of the district unit of the BJYM, Gautam Arora, they raised slogans against Sidhu and burnt his effigy.

Arora said that when the entire nation was seething with anger against Pakistan after the martyrdom of its brave 44 paramilitary soldiers in Pulwama, “the statement of Sidhu lacked patriotic feeling”. He said his statement displayed his love for his friend Imran Khan, Prime Minister Pakistan.

He announced that his party members would protest against him whenever Sidhu returned to the city.

It may be recalled that Sidhu had said on Friday, a day after a dastardly suicide attack in Pulwama, that nations could not be blamed for a handful of people. “There are good, bad and ugly people in our lives. Every place, institution and nation has them. The ugly needs to be punished, but individuals cannot be blamed for a dastardly act,” he had said.

Visually challenged kids organised a candle march at the Institute of Blind. Activists of Hindu Suraksha Samiti, too, staged a protest. Famous kite maker Jagmohan Kanojia made kites carrying remarks against Pakistan’s policy on terrorism, which were later burnt amid chants of anti-Pakistan slogans.
