Punjab govt to provide free medical treatment for wartime injuries: Minister
Punjab Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal announced today that the state government will bear the full cost of medical treatment of individuals injured during wartime incidents, including those recently wounded in shelling by Pakistan in the Poonch sector of Jammu & Kashmir. Dhaliwal visited Amandeep Hospital in Amritsar to check on the well-being of civilians injured in the cross-border firing. Acting on behalf of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the minister expressed solidarity with the victims and praised the bravery of Indian soldiers.
“The Punjab Government will not only cover the treatment expenses of the recent Poonch attack victims but also extend free medical care to anyone injured during any conflict between India and Pakistan,” he said and added that last night, Pakistan launched a major attack on Amritsar and its surrounding areas, but Indian forces effectively neutralised the threat. “Our brave soldiers stood guard throughout the night. I salute their courage and dedication,” he said.
Prior to the ceasefire announcement, Dhaliwal appealed to all residents of Punjab to strictly follow the security advisories issued by the administration. “When a blackout order is in effect, it becomes our duty to switch off outdoor lights and draw curtains to block visibility from outside,” he emphasised. “It has often been observed that enemy forces target areas where lights are still visible. For our own safety, it is essential to comply with the instructions issued by the military and civil authorities.”
