Punjab Ministers, AAP MLAs use Jan Samvaad to give ‘early push’ to poll campaign

Punjab Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO inaugurated development works worth over Rs 5.33 crore at various villages of the Jandiala Guru constituency on Friday. The minister announced playgrounds, interlocking tile works, road repair and other infrastructural upgrades for several villages as he addressed Jan Samvaad sessions.

“Jandiala Guru is touching new heights in terms of development,” he said at Gaggarbhana village. “This year, no village will lag behind in terms of development,” he said, as Punjab prepares for the 2027 Assembly polls.

AAP spokesperson and Ajnala MLA Kuldeep Dhaliwal made similar claims while addressing public meetings in his constituency. “Voters are preparing to give 100 seats to the Mann government in the 2027 elections, compared to 92 seats in the last Assembly polls,” said Dhaliwal.

Meanwhile, it seems AAP has already swung into poll mode as the party leaders are turning Jan Samvaad meetings and programmes being held under the ‘Chaar Shandar Saal of Bhagwant Mann’ campaign into poll pitches, listing their achievements in terms of announcements and development works.

Braving bad weather, Dhaliwal called women as the biggest participants of these “four glorious years” as he again highlighted the Rs 1,000 incentive that Mann government recently greenlighted, though it was promised four years ago during the 2022 poll campaign. Dhaliwal spoke at Dabar Basti, Talwandi Rai Dadu, Chhota Fattewal, Chakka Dogra, Vanjanwala, Nangal, Sarai, Riad and Ugar Aulakh villages in Ajnala that faced devastating floods in 2025, with normal infrastructure still crippled.

He repeated the announcement of a degree and vocational training college at a cost of Rs 15 crore at Bikaraur, besides building a new road from Dhussi dam in Ghonewala on the Ravi river to Gulgarh at a cost of Rs 60 crore.

All these claims have come at a time when Amritsar has turned into a political hotspot with recent allegations of abetment to suicide and harassment by former AAP minister at Tarn Taran MLA Laljit Singh Bhullar after DM Gagandeep Randhawa took the extreme step.
