Amritsar, September 24

The residents woke up to a clear sky on Monday morning as it stopped raining around 1.30 am last night. Apart from major cave-ins of road near the MC Commissioner’s residence, the morning also revealed a succession of more cave-ins and mishaps.

Many two-wheeler riders had a narrow escape because of the potholes on road owing to heavy rainfall. Another road cave-in was reported from the GT Road near New Amritsar as the portion of the main road and BRTS corridor was washed. However, it was renovated later on.

In another instance, a portion of the street in a residential area near Springdale School was also washed away. However, no one got reportedly hurt. In another instance, a portion of a bridge under construction near Ram Tirath was also damaged.

The Lawrence Road too developed a large pothole. It had earlier been filled using bricks. However, as the point was submerged in water, many vehicles had a tough time wading through it.  In many areas of city, the residents also complained about rain water entering their homes and damaging their furniture.
