Amritsar, July 12

‘Dhol Ratti’, an upcoming Punjabi film, will be released on July 20 under the banner of Canam Movie Productions. A period drama, the story of the film is set in Punjab of the 70’s. This film recapitulates the state of emergency on the Indo-Pak border and how people endured the hostility during the time.

Young actor Lakha Lakhwinder Singh, a well-known theatre artiste, is in the lead role. Making his debut, Lakha says the film was promising with a good story and realistic portrayal or characters. “The film has content that has universal appeal, humanistic in its story and clean in its treatment.”

Actor Pooja Thakur, who is the lead actress in the film, says that the film pitches itself on the story and not on masala entertainment. “All I can say is that it’s a simple and strong film. This film portrays the old Punjab and reflects the significance of family relationships and key values with an essential message for today’s generation. We can say that this film will be a complete package of entertainment, comedy and emotions. This film can be enjoyed with the whole family.”

The film is produced by Mike Verma and Directed by Shivamm Sharma. The story is written by Babbar Gill, who also acted in the movie. Verma said, “In the modern era, where people are excessively inclined towards western culture, this movie is an effort to connect them to their roots.”
