The indefinite dharna staged by activists of the Revolutionary Marxist Party of India (RMPI) in front of the office of the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Goindwal Sahib, against alleged police atrocities, entered its second day on Thursday. The party workers remained present at the dharna site even during the night. RMPI workers from across the district have been participating in the dharna.

Mukhtar Singh Mallha, district secretary, RMPI, besides Baldev Singh Pandori, Sulakhan Singh Tur, Manjit Singh Baggu and Resham Singh Failoke were among those who addressed the gathering on the occasion. Kulwinder Kaur, leader of Aurat Mukti Morcha, also spoke on the occasion. The leaders accused the police of becoming a puppet in the hands of the ruling party.

The speakers accused the police of bias and trying to appease their political bosses. SSP Abhimanyu Rana said the party activists were fighting for their personal gains, not in public interest.
