Robbers strike at govt school, restaurant; decamp with goods in Amritsar

Two incidents of robbery took place in the Kambo police station area on the intervening night of April 9 and 10. Unidentified thieves struck at Government Elementary School, Bhaini Gillan village, and stole computer, CPU, USB, LCD, CCTV cameras, projector and batteries of solar system, projector, sound system and grills here on Monday.

Sukhdev Singh, head teacher at Government Elementary School, Bhaini Gillan village, in his complaint lodged with the Kambo police station, stated that on the intervening night of April 9 and 10 some unidentified persons entered the school. They broke open the grills of a classroom and the office of the school. A number of electronic appliances were kept inside the school. The thieves stole computer, CPU, USB and LCD from one of the rooms and batteries of solar system, sound system and projectors from another room. The accused persons removed the CCTV cameras and took the DVR along with them.

On Monday morning when school staff came to the school, they found that goods missing. A case has been registered under Sections 457 and 380 of the IPC in this regard.

In the second incident of robbery that took place in the same police station area on Monday, four unidentified persons robbed a restaurant owner at gunpoint in Amritsar. Four masked men reached the dairy. A few customers were also there when the incident happened. One of the robbers took out a pistol and pointed it at the owner. Another robber took out Rs 45,000 kept in the cash box. After robbing the restaurant, the accused ran towards Pandori Warianch.

The incident was captured on a CCTV. The police have registered a case under Sections 392 and 34 of the IPC on the complaint of restaurant owner Gurpreet Singh and started investigation by examining the footage of CCTVs. Cameras installed nearby are also being searched so that the location of the accused could be estimated.
