Rural police nab 6 with 3.4kg heroin
The Rural police here have confiscated 3.4kg of heroin and arrested six individuals in three separate incidents. In addition to the heroin, the police seized a car and a motorcycle, both used in narcotics smuggling.
Police officials said the accused have been identified as Rajan Singh, Gurpreet Singh alias Kali from Basarke village, Satnam Singh from Dhanoe Khurd village, Micheal from Sangtuwal village, Sagar Sharma alias Choptra from Dhianpur and Harpal Singh from Bal Kalan village.
SSP (Amritsar Rural) Charanjit Singh said the Gharinda police arrested Rajan Singh and Gurpreet Singh, seizing 890g of heroin. In a separate operation, Gharinda police arrested Satnam Singh and seized 510g of heroin.
Meanwhile, the Rajasansi police arrested Micheal and Sagar Sharma, seizing 1kg of heroin hidden in their vehicle.
The police also arrested Harpal Singh from Bal Kalan village, seizing 940g of heroin from him.
SSP Charanjit Singh said the narcotics were likely smuggled from Pakistan via drone, though investigations are ongoing to trace both the source and the entire smuggling network.
