City schools held multiple events to celebrate the 550th Parkash Purb of Guru Nanak Dev on Thursday. DAV International School celebrated the event on its campus with great devotion. The occasion was marked by the recitation of ‘Japji Sahib’ followed by Shabad Kirtan by the school students along with members of Gurudwara Sahib. Kiranpreet Kaur, a student of Class X, threw light on the life and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev. This was followed by recitation of Anand Sahib and then langar was served. School chairman Dr VP Lakhanpal called upon the teachers to follow the words of Guru in the form of ‘Kirat Karo, Naam Japo, Vand Chako’.
Principal Anjana Gupta thanked all the guests for their devotional participation in the holy celebration and advised the students to follow the path of righteousness and truth as shown by the great Guru.
State-level competitions were held at Government Senior Secondary Smart School for Girls, Mall Road, as per the instructions of Punjab government to celebrate the 550 birth anniversary of Sikh Guru. The students took part in ‘Gurbani ucharan’ and ‘Japji Sahib’ path.
