Seminar on new Income Tax Act

The Income Tax Department, Amritsar, organised a seminar on the new Income Tax Act and TDS/TCS provisions at Guru Nanak Dev University on Thursday.

The seminar was addressed by Bhupinder Singh, IRS, Joint Commissioner of Income Tax, Range-TDS, Ludhiana, and Vikas Kumar, ITO, TDS Charge, Amritsar.

The speakers apprised the participants of the features of the Income Tax Act, 2025, recent amendments, new TDS/TCS sections, procedural aspects and statutory compliance requirements.

The outreach programme aimed to create awareness among Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) and other stakeholders to ensure accuracy, minimise procedural discrepancies and promote timely compliance in tax deduction and collection.

The consequences of non-compliance and defaults under TDS/TCS provisions were also highlighted.

An interactive session was held wherein participants were given the opportunity to seek clarifications and interact directly with the officers.

Addressing the gathering, Singh said the objective of the seminar was to build capacity of stakeholders by providing comprehensive information on new tax provisions under TDS and TCS, in line with the ‘Capacity Building of Stakeholders’ initiative of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), New Delhi.

The seminar is part of the department’s ongoing efforts to engage with educational institutions and promote informed tax practices.
