Sessions judge urges schools to launch drive against drug abuse

District and Sessions Judge Kanwaljit Singh Bajwa has called upon educational institutions to launch an awareness drive against drugs to make society drug-free. The District and Sessions Judge was addressing a special assembly at the local Majha Public School here on Monday.

The judicial officer stressed that addicts not only cause trouble for themselves but for society also as drugs lead to many other serious law and order problems. He was accompanied by Chief Judicial Magistrate Shilpa. The judicial officer gave an inspiring message to society about leading a healthy life.

The students of the school presented an attractive cultural programme delivering a good message against drugs. Rajbir Singh Gill and Sukhbir Singh Sandhawalia, office-bearers of the managing committee, also addressed the gathering on the occasion and assured the judicial officer that one chapter must be included in syllabus on awareness against drugs, its ill-effects, and the legal restrictions. Dr Raman Dua, principal of the school, in her address, urged the students to play an important role in saving society from drugs.
