This was stated by Jatinder Pal Singh, manager of Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj Baba Deep Singh.
He said the initiative aimed to steer the younger generation, increasingly affected by drug abuse, away from social degradation and connect them with Sikh principles through ‘amrit sanchar’. The team, constituted under the directions of Dharam Prachar Committee president Ajayab Singh Abhyasi, will work extensively in villages with the support of youth, women, elders and local congregations to encourage those who have not yet taken ‘amrit’ to do so.
Meanwhile, Jatinder Pal Singh further stated that the birth anniversary of the great Sikh martyr Baba Deep Singh would be celebrated with full fervour on January 27 at Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj Baba Deep Singh. In this regard, suggestions and cooperation were sought from various religious bodies and societies of the city to ensure the successful holding of the sacred occasion. Representatives of religious organisations, ‘gatka akharas’ and sewadars have assured full cooperation.
As per the programme schedule, an ‘akhand path’ will commence on January 25 at 9 am. On January 26 at 10 am, a grand Nagar Kirtan will be led from the Akal Takht, passing through various routes before concluding at Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj Baba Deep Singh later in the evening. Appealing to the sangat, the manager urged devotees to actively participate in this ‘amrit sanchar’ movement and inspire their children and families to join the Sikh fold.
