The 400th foundation day of Sri Kiratpur Sahib, founded by the sixth Master, Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib, will be celebrated by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, in keeping with Sikh and Khalsai traditions.

Stating this, SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami said a grand Gurmat Samagam will be held at Gurdwara Sri Kiratpur Sahib for three days starting from April 29.

This and other decisions were taken during a meeting of the sub-committee regarding the 400th Foundation Day celebrations held today under the leadership of Dhami, in which the outline of the events to be held regarding the centenary was drawn up.

Dhami said Kiratpur Sahib is the holy land which was settled by the sixth Guru Sri Hargobind and Sri Guru Har Rai and Sri Guru Harkrishan also resided at this place.

He said that on April 29, Sri Akhand Path Sahib will be inaugurated and Rain-Sabai Kirtan Darbar will be organised. Gurmat Samagam will also be held on April 30, in which famous Kathavachaks, ragis, dhadis and poets of the Panth will connect the congregation with the history of the Guru.

The main event related to the centenary will be held on May 1, in which prominent personalities, including Singh Sahibans, Jathedars of Takhts, all religious organisations of the Sikh Panth, Nihang Singh Dals and Kar Seva Wale Mahapurkhas will participate.
