Punjab State Pharmacy Officers Association organised an event here on Sunday to mark the World Pharmacists Day. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Subeet Kumar Jain, Head, Department of Pharmaceuticals at Guru Nanak Dev University, emphasised upon the importance of pharmacists in the medical profession.

Shamsher Singh Kohri and Ashok Kumar, leaders of the Pharmacy Officers Association, spoke about the challenges being faced by the pharmacists. “The role and responsibilities of pharmacists have increased manifold due to increase in population and new advances in medical science,” said Ashok Sharma.

Sharma highlighted that shortage of trained pharmacists was affecting medical services to the patients. He also stressed on the need for collective efforts to bring about a change in conditions at workplace and ensure better services for the general public.
