The Sarhali police nabbed six persons of a gang for robberies near the ITI, Sarhali, on Sunday. A huge quantity of arms and ammunitions, along with drugs, has been seized from them.
Inspector Thamman Singh, Station House Officer (SHO), Sarhali, said 10-gm heroin, two country-made pistols with seven live cartridges, 220 intoxicating tablets and two stolen motorcycles were from them.
The accused have been identified as Jagbir Singh, Mandip Singh, Sukhpreet Singh of Patti, Sukhchain Singh, Gurmit Singh of Kandiala and Teja Singh of Sarhali.
According to the SHO, the accused were planning to commit some robbery in the area when the police got information and nabbed them in the raid.
They have been booked under Sections 399, 411, 402, 379 of the IPC, Sections 21, 22, 61, 85 of the NDPS Act, and 25, 54, 59 of the Arms Act.
The police expect that they will be able to crack more such cases during further interrogation of the accused.
