Snatchers are having a field day in the rural belt it seems.
A mobile phone from a textile factory employee was snatched by three motorcycle-borne persons here late on Sunday evening, when he was returning home from work.
Akash Kumar of Indira Colony, Meera Kot Kalan village, told the police that he works at a textile factory at Bal Kalan village. He said he was returning home after work and on his way back, he got a call from his contractor. He said when he was answering the call, three bike-borne persons came and snatched his mobile phone.
He identified one of the suspects as Shivdarshan Singh of Police Lines, Amritsar. Kamboh police have registered a case under Section 379-B of the IPC against three persons and further investigations were on. No arrest has been made so far.
Three held for snatching purse from Attari visitor
Gharinda police have arrested three snatchers who robbed a local resident while he had gone to watch the ‘Beating the Retreat’ ceremony at Attari-Wagah joint check post here. Those arrested have been identified as Manjit Singh of Chattiwind area, Kanwaljit Singh of Sultanwind Road and Shera Singh of Chheharta.
The victim, Tejiqbal Singh of Muhar village, told the police that yesterday he had gone to Attari-Wagah joint check post to see the retreat ceremony on his bike. He said when he was returning in the evening, the accused stopped him on the pretext of asking the way.
He said he was telling the same, when one of the accused took out his purse from the pocket and fled away. He said it contained Rs 3,200. He started chasing the accused. He raised an alarm following which the onlookers also started chasing them. They were later arrested and handed over to the police. A case was registered against them, while their motorcycle was impounded.
