Amritsar, October 15

The Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee has condemned the state government allegedly for joining hands with the Centre to scuttle the farmers’ ‘rail roko’ agitation that has entered 22nd day today. Committee members who blocked the Amritsar-New Delhi rail track near Devi Daspura village claimed that the state government’s double standards had been exposed.

“The state on the one hand is showing solidarity with farmers, whereas on the other hand, the government had submitted in the HC that rail service disruption would lead to affecting the supply of power and other essential services and hence tracks should be vacated. We ask the CM that why he didn’t approach the court when rail services remained disrupted during Covid lockdown?” asked Sarwan Singh Pandher, state general secretary of the committee. — TNS
