Amritsar, April 19

With Covid-19 cases in different parts of the country witnessing a surge again and all local schools making wearing of masks mandatory for the students, the parents are a worried lot as they fear that sooner or later, the educational institutions would again be closed.

I have received a message from the school that the students must wear an N-95 mask during the school hours. I am worried that how kids will manage to breathe through these, especially in summer. Rajwant Kaur, a parent

Rajwant Kaur, a parent, said, “I have received a message from the school that the students must wear an N-95 mask during the school hours. I am worried that how kids will manage to breathe through these, especially in summer.”

Some parents stated that the offline mode of studies had started from March 1. “The students are still settling down in school as the new session has started 20 days ago,” said another parent Jagmohan Singh.

The parents complained that if the schools were closed again, it would affect the studies of the students of senior classes. The schools have failed to operate normally for the last two years after the first lockdown in the country was imposed in March 2020.

While vaccination for children above 12 years of age has already begun and nearly 34,000 children in the 12-14 age group and 77,293 children in the 15-17 age group have already been inoculated. The parents of students studying in primary classes are more worried. Meanwhile, the district has not reported any new case in the last six days.
