Harmeet Singh Sandhu, MLA from Tarn Taran, distributed approval letters worth Rs 6.45 crore for the construction of 258 pucca houses in the city, converting existing kutcha houses into permanent structures.
The programme was held on the premises of the local municipal council on Monday. On the occasion, Sandhu said that during the by-election, it had been promised that residents who had submitted applications to the municipal council for converting their kutcha houses into pucca ones would receive approval letters on a priority basis once the Model Code of Conduct ended.
He stated that under the scheme, Rs 2.5 lakh per house would be provided in three instalments. He added that the promises made to the people during the by-election are now being fulfilled one by one.
Executive Officer Kawaljit Singh, former municipal council president Bhupinder Singh Khera, Navroop Singh Sandhawalia, Sarbrinder Singh Bharowal, Sarabjit Singh Bhullar, Yadvinder Singh Yadu, Sarabjit Singh Lali, Savinder Malhi were present on the occasion.
