Teachers of government schools under the banner of Sanjha Adhiapk Morcha Union on Thursday organised a rally and held a candlelight march in front of the residence of MLADharambeer Agnihotri against reduction in their salary for regularising their jobs.

Balkar Singh Valtoha, office bearer along with other teachers’ union leaders, while addressing the protesters alleged that the monthly salary of teachers had been reduced from Rs 45,000 to Rs 15,000. The leaders condemned the “repressive” attitude of the state government for suspending the services of several teachers. They criticised the state government for transferring some of the teachers to far-off places.

The leaders demanded immediate withdrawal of anti-teachers decisions of the state government.
