AMRITSAR: Some unidentified miscreants struck at the house of a school principal in the Cantonment area and took away jewellery and household goods at gunpoint here on Monday evening.

Some unidentified miscreants struck at the house of a school principal in the Cantonment area and took away jewellery and household goods at gunpoint here on Monday evening.

Harinder Kaur, principal of a public school, told the police that her residence was inside the school. She said her son Parminder Singh resides on the first floor.

“Around 8 pm when I was in my room, four unidentified persons with their faces covered came and held me hostage. They forcibly took my diamond earrings, rings, including a gold one, and two cellphones. They also searched the almirah for cash. After taking jewellery and other goods, they fled,” she added.

According to information, the suspects first entered the servant’s quarter. They tied servant Iqbal Singh and his wife and took away his cellphone.

Surjit Singh, investigating officer, said, “We have registered a case under Sections 379-B, 452 and 34 of the IPC and Sections 25/54/59 of the Arms Act in this regard. We are collecting CCTV footage of the area.”
