Ticket checking teams of the Ferozepur division earned a revenue of Rs 2.51 crore as fine from ticketless passengers during February, which is approximately 29 per cent more than Rs 1.94 crore earned in February 2025. It included a share of Rs 38 lakh recovered from the Amritsar railway station.

The division is conducting continuous ticket checking drive in trains to curb the practice of unauthorised travel by passengers with its ticket checking staff and Chief Ticket Inspectors in lead.

Additionally, the division achieved three per cent more revenue than the target set by the headquarters for the current fiscal till February 2026. Last month, action was taken in a total of 36,282 cases related to ticketless travel, irregular travel, un-booked luggage, anti-littering and smoking.

To keep the railway stations clean and to prevent public from littering at stations and make them aware about maintaining cleanliness, regular checking is done at main stations of the division. More than Rs 57,000 was recovered from 344 passengers for littering on the station premises (Anti-Littering Act) during this drive in February.

Divisional Railway Manager Sanjeev Kumar said, “Ferozepur division is continuously running ticket checking campaigns to ensure that passengers travel with tickets, maintain cleanliness and follow railway rules.”

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Paramdeep Singh Saini said “This achievement is the result of the activeness, dedication and continuous efforts of the division’s ticket-checking staff. The division will continue its ticket-checking campaign in future with even greater effectiveness, both to increase rail revenue and to provide passengers a safe and disciplined travel environment.”
