A shopkeeper committed suicide by hanging himself in his ancestral home in busy Hall Bazaar here on Tuesday. The police found a suicide note from the spot following which the Kotwali police registered a case of abetment of suicide against three persons.
The victim has been identified as Ajay Seth, a resident of Hall Bazaar. Those booked are JP Chopra, his son Aditya Chopra and Bhupinder Singh. No arrest has been made so far as the accused are on the run. A case under Section 306 of the IPC has been registered against them. A property dispute is stated to be the reason behind the incident.
Vishav Mohan Seth, father of the deceased, stated to the police that his son Ajay Seth ran a shop — Bombay Photo House — in Hall Bazaar. At around 10.45 am, Ajay went to his ancestral home. When he did not return, Vishav phoned him, but found no response.
Later, he, along with his daughter-in-law, went to the ancestral house. Repeated knocking elicited no response so the family, with the help of a nearby shopkeeper, got the door opened and found Ajay hanging from the iron girder on the third floor of the house. A suicide note was found in which the deceased had named three persons, responsible for his taking the extreme step. He alleged that the accused wanted to grab their property due to which Ajay was very upset.
