Amritsar, November 24

Tractor-trolleys loaded with sand and gravels can be seen parked on the road at Jahajgarh, causing inconvenience to commuters. Jahajgarh is one of the major markets of building material.

Ironically, dealers of building material unload trucks and trailers on the roadside and then load the material in small trolleys for sale in retail.

Commuters said sand particles cause problems in their eyes. The trolleys are not equipped with reflectors, posing a threat to human lives. Besides, Bikes often skid due to the sand and gravels lying on the road and roadside under the elevated bridge.

“Jahajgarh is not an appropriate place for wholesale of sand and gravels. The dealers should use some open ground on the outskirt of the city for loading small trolleys. The MC should take action so the dealers keep their material at the designated place in the market,” said Jatinderpal Singh, a resident.

Sushant Bahtia, estate officer, MC. said, “The matter is in our notice. We have warned dealers several times not to park the trolleys on the road. Now, we will seize their vehicles along with the material. No one will be allowed to encroach upon the road and create nuisance.”
