Komal Beetan, a student from Beetan village in the Bet area of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh, has got 100 per cent scholarship to pursue her PhD in Mississippi Medical University, USA.

In the online interview, India’s only aspirant Komal was selected for the scholarship. Her father Balu Ram is an IOC employee and her mother Gurbaksh Kaur died 14 years ago. Komal had received her primary education from Riyat Model School in Beetan village. She did her Class XII from St Soldier’s School, Naya Nangal, and BSMS and JRF from IISER-Mohali.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.
