Two arrested for mobile phone snatching near Majitha Road in Amritsar

The Amritsar police have arrested two accused involved in a mobile phone robbery near the Majitha Road bypass area. The police have also recovered the stolen mobile phone along with the motorcycle used in the crime.

Providing details, Kirandeep Singh, Station House Officer (SHO) of Sadar police station, said that the complainant, Balwant Singh, a resident of Dashmesh Avenue, Amritsar, reported that on the night of April 15, he was walking home with his 16-year-old son when two motorcycle-borne youths intercepted them and snatched the boy’s mobile phone before fleeing the spot.

Following the complaint, the Sadar police registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). During the investigation, a police team led by ASI Sukhdev Singh traced and arrested the accused.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Rohit Singh, a resident of Pandori Waraich village in Amritsar (Rural), and Lovjeet Singh, alias Lov, of Deen Dayal Colony, Verka.

The police recovered the snatched Redmi 9 mobile phone and a black Hero Splendor motorcycle (registration number PB02-EZ-1054) used in the crime.

Officials said further interrogation of the accused is underway to ascertain their involvement in other similar incidents.
